What to do in Formentera this year 2022?
This 2022 season is one of the most eagerly awaited in recent years after the pandemic we have had to endure. Don't miss our suggestions on what to do in Formentera: plans, activities and cultural agenda.
Remember that with Sea Experience Ibiza you have it very easy to get to the smallest of the Pitiusas Islands. Our Ibiza - Formentera ferry leaves every day from Playa d'en Bossa and Figueretes and the trip only costs €40 (return trip). Book now!
1. The most paradisiacal beaches and coves of Formentera
The main attraction of this little corner of the Mediterranean! The beaches and coves of Formentera are spectacular: fine white sand, turquoise waters and the ideal temperature. You can't leave without visiting the famous Cala Saona, Ses Illetes or Migjorn.
Although these are the most popular and crowded (along with Llevant beach), from Sea Experience Ibiza we recommend that you don't rule out visiting others such as Es Pujols, Sa Roqueta, Cavall d'en Borràs or Ses Platgetes.
The coves and beaches of Formentera are a real spectacle for the senses...
2. The famous Lighthouse of La Mola and the Lighthouse of Cap de Barbaria
Two enclaves that you absolutely have to visit. The La Mola lighthouse and the Cap de Barbaria lighthouse are as emblematic as they are beautiful. Located on opposite sides of Formentera (one on the western side and the other on the eastern side), they should be your reference point for touring the island, whether by bicycle, moped or car.
In addition to these two icons of Formentera (immortalised in films such as Lucia and Sex and The Cave), the La Savina lighthouse, very close to the port of Formentera, is also worth a visit. From its vicinity you can see a sunset with the islet of Es Vedrà in the background that will take your breath away.
That's where we leave it...
3. Shopping in the markets and flea markets
Although it is small in size, Formentera's street markets are plentiful. During the summer season you can visit:
- La Savina Market (in the harbour), daily from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 00:00 (from 16 May to 30 September).
- Es Pujols Market (Avda. Miramar), every day from 19:00 to 00:00 (from 1 May to 30 October).
- Sant Ferran Market (Calle Mayor), Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 20:00 to 00:00 (from 28 May to 1 October).
- La Mola Market (La Mola), Wednesdays and Sundays from 16:30 to 22:00 (from 1 May to 30 October).
- Sant Francesc Market (Ibiza Street), every day from 10:00 to 14:00 (from 1 May to 30 October).
- Second-hand market (Sant Francesc), Tuesdays and Saturdays from 11:00 to 14:00 (all year).
- Payés Market (Antoni Tur "Gabrielet" Centre), Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 13:30 (summer timetable).
4. Enjoying the most emblematic chiringuitos (beach bars)
Visualise yourself, mojito in hand, facing the blue horizon of the Mediterranean Sea. The sun brushing against your skin, the sea breeze caressing your hair and the feel of the fine sand on your bare feet. What a way to enjoy the dolce vita, right?
From our blog we assure you that this feeling is wonderful and therefore, when you travel from Ibiza to Formentera, save a little time to stop by one of these beach bars. (or "chiringuitos" as the locals know them):
- Kiosko 62, at the beginning of the beach of Migjorn (the area is called "Ca Marí").
- Kiosko La Franja, in the village of Es Caló (beach area "Es Arenals").
- Kiosko Bartolo, in the area of Caló des Mort (at the end of the beach of Migjorn).
