6 plans for your Formentera trip in October
The October agenda is full of plans and proposals to enjoy Formentera beyond its beaches. The mild climate favours the celebration of sporting events as well as other outdoor activities, from horseback riding to kayaking routes along the coast. La Mola Market
This essential event of the Pilar de La Mola, which is organised every Wednesday and Sunday from 16:30 to 22:30, will continue to be held until 12 October. In their stalls you will find real crafts, much of it inspired by the island.
Art in the old Sant Francesc Town Hall
During the summer months it is difficult to pass through the door of this space and not find an interesting art exhibition. The photographic work "Obra Viva" (Living Work) by the Argentine artist living on Fabiana Schulz Island will be on display until 7 October. The room is just next to the church of Sant Francesc, one of the essential visits to Formentera.
Gastronomic Weekend
The next 6, 7 and 8 are the last days to enjoy this gastronomic event in which eight participating restaurants offer a special menu at a closed price of 20 €. The restaurants are Caminito, Can Dani, Casablanca, Maricastaña, Chezz Gardi, Pinatar, Blue Bar and Carmen Restaurant by Blanco.
Beer Festival
On 21 October the streets of El Pilar de la Mola will once again host the Oktoberfest La Mola, a unique event promoted by German residents on Formentera. As in its equivalent in Munich, the fair will not be lacking in sausages, traditional German dances, musical performances and beer barrels.
Events for sports' people
The first fortnight of October two sporting events of interest to the most active travellers are held on Formentera: the V Formentera Triathlon (7 October) and the XXI Pujada a La Mola (12 October), which ascends to the massif of the same name, the only height on the island. At the end of the month, between 27 and 29 October, the second edition of the BBT Volta Cicloturista Formentera will be held, as well as the BTT La Mola, which qualifies for the Challenge of the Campeonato Pitiuso de BTT.
Horse riding and kayaking
Autumn is a very good time to discover the coast of Formentera by kayak. With a total of 69 kilometres, it must be borne in mind that some of its sections - such as the cliffs of La Mola- are only recommended for expert levels. You can get more information and book your kayak excursion at the Formentera Nautical Centre, located in the port of La Savina. If, on the other hand, you prefer to enjoy an excursion on horseback around the island, the company Rutas Es Boixets offers group rides adapted to the different levels or personalised excursions for riders practising this sport.
