We collaborate with Arqueobarbaria in Formentera
The Arqueobarbaria project was born in 2012 and since then it has been carrying out archaeological excavation campaigns on the island of Formentera. More specifically, in the Bronze Age settlement "Cap de Barbaria II" and in the burial cave "Cova 127".
The next of these campaigns will take place from the 16th to 29th of March 2020, and the registration period for interested people and professionals ends on the 12th of February. It can be requested through the mail
Sea Experience Ibiza will once again collaborate with Arqueobarbaria: we are very happy to do our bit and help make projects as interesting as this one come true!
A millenary archaeological site
According to the director of the project, Ibizan archaeologist Pau Sureda, the Cap de Barbaria II archaeological site on Formentera dates from 1,800 BC. A true source of information to learn about the prehistory of the Pitiusa islands.
Thanks to this excavation we know, for example, that the first inhabitants of the island "exploited the resources of the sea very intensely", and proof of this is the thousands of shells of different marine species that have been identified.
