Gastronomic events: II San Miguel Octopus Fair
For the second consecutive year, the residents' association of the village of Sant Miquel de Balansat (belonging to the municipality of Sant Joan de Labritja) is organising a popular gastronomic event with the octopus as the protagonist. We are talking about the II Fira del Pop ("Octopus Fair") which will take place next Saturday, November 30th.
Tapas, paella and concerts...
This new edition of the Ibiza Octopus Fair will feature activities for all audiences from 12 in the morning until 23 hours. Throughout the day you will be able to taste octopus tapas at a price of 5€ in more than ten stalls that will compete to make the tastiest and most original one.
At 3 p.m., there will also be a large "popular paella" with all those attending. One hour before, the musician Jose Rulo will be entertaining the event with a live acoustic performance.
The music will continue from 18 hours with a concert by the Formentera band Chimichurri (in which Jose Rulo also participates), to continue with Jacovich's Latin Show.
To bid farewell to the Ibiza Octopus Fair, there will be a vintage party with the participation of resident DJs starting at 9pm.
...and also a lot of laughter
One of the novelties of this year is the Humour Evening that the neighbours' association Anàrem a Sant Miquel has prepared so that, in addition to good gastronomy, laughter is not lacking.
For this occasion they have counted on El Gran Jaime Gili (who calls himself "singer-songwriter, comedian, punk and romantic"), who promises a good dose of good humour for this Octopus Fair.
Tradition and gastronomic innovation
In the first edition of the Octopus Fair the winning tapa was the one elaborated by the Chiringuito Pascual de San Miguel. It consisted of a reinterpretation of the typical "coca" from Ibiza, but made with a focaccia base and, of course, with octopus.
Attendees could also enjoy delicacies such as octopus with dumplings, octopus "empanada" and, as could not be otherwise, the typical fried octopus ("frita de pop"), one of the most appreciated dishes by local people.
The Balearic public radio and television IB3 was present last year and recorded the great atmosphere that was experienced. You can watch it on the program Gent de la mar ("People of the sea") by clicking on this link.
So you know, if you like to enjoy the typical gastronomy and popular festivities in Ibiza, you can't miss the second edition of the San Miguel Octopus Fair!
